Query regarding a Line break

I'm unable to add a line break in the third part of the exercise, which was "Walmart, Mark&Spencers, and Carrefour operate in the retail industry". If I use the Alt+ Enter method before "retail industry" the text just vanishes instead of staying in the same cell and moving to the new line. I hope u understand my question.
