Looks bit incorrect to me while choosing Null Hypothesis and Alternative hypothesis.

In the above lecture. To me it looks like, you have chosen the incorrect Null Hypothesis as it should be Ho states Email open rate >= 40% and alternative hypothesis should be Email open rate < 40% as Null Hypothesis is something that we are trying to reject. Can you please check and confirm.?

Hello Sarmad,

Thank you for reaching out!

The alternative hypothesis is what you aim to prove. In this case, you are trying to prove that the open rate is higher than that of the competition. Therefore, this is your alternative hypothesis.

I hope this helps!

Hi,
Thank you for the clarification, but as mention in the previous lectures or videos, the Null Hypothesis was always what we are trying to reject or an unfavourable to us. So on that basis, shouldn't we set Null Hypothesis as Email open rate >= 40% which automatically turns the alternate hypothesis as Competitors Email open rate < 40%. So i put my point on that basis.

Thanks

Sarmad
