The SUMIF function allows us to add only the cells within a range which satisfy a specific criterion. The function has 3 arguments: ‘range’, ‘criteria’, and ‘sum range’. The first one, ‘range’ is where we want to find the second argument ‘criteria’. Whenever this condition is satisfied SUMIF will sum the values found in the ‘sum range’ (the third argument of the function).
