Resolved: Measure vs manually dragging into Values field
What is the point of measures if you can manually drag a variable into the Values field in a given chart and select the same aggregating function?
The tables below show the summed order quantity, where in one of the tables the variable was manually dragged in the Values field and the other uses a measure.

Measures give you the ability to create calculations that are outside the box, sure you can use the averages and the sums and etc but when you want to create a more complicated measure that does the MoM performance or YoY performance from a given category against all categories the default measures in Power BI cannot solve this for you which is why we need DAX to write measures.
