Resolved: Internet Explorer ridiculously slow

Hi Dimitar,
Ok, I'm using a Mac and switching between using Power BI on Microsoft Remote Desktop and my Mac desktop in order to watch the videos and follow along on Power BI at the same time is just adding an insane amount of unnecessary time. However, I tried to log on to 365 via the included Internet Explorer and I am unable to even click the login  button. IE is also ridiculously slow. I'm trying to see if there are alternative solutions like downloading Chrome or Edge but there's something up with the IE security settings and it won't let me download them. Is there a solution??
Thank you for any help, Frederika

Sorry, another problem - after I downloaded the resources on to a USB to see if I could access them via the Microsoft Remote Desktop that way... when I double click the Power BI Remote Desktop icon the Remote Desktop, I just get a black screen.

Hi Frederika,

Thank you for reaching out, I am guessing that what is stopping IE from downloading Chrome is the privacy settings of internet explorer. Please do the following:
1. Open Internet Explorer and go to Internet Options -> Privacy Tab. You will see a slider with the level of Privacy settings, you can degrease the privacy settings.
2. Click on the Sites button and enter the URL of the website you are trying to download content from, please note that you will be required to enter the full url of the download. So I suggest you copy the download link and paste it into sites.
3. Apply these settings.

I am not sure how Microsoft Remote Desktop works with USB drives, as it is a virtual machine with no access to your local desktop. Can you please download them inside the VM instead?

Kind Regards,

Hi Dimitar,
Thank you for your help!! So, in the event any other Mac users are as untechnically minded as myself when it comes to Windows... yup, I couldn't access my USB or external hard drive on Microsoft Remote Desktop. The privacy tab in internet settings didn't have a slider. But in the security tab, I scrolled down and had to change Downloads from disable to enable. Chrome was slow to download but I got there eventually and was able to log in to 365 on there. However, the video was playing without sound and I had change the Windows audio settings. Lolz... I am now a zen master at patience :D
Fingers crossed for the rest of the module. Thanks again!
