Will the grades at a university be a categorical data if they were awarded based on A to F without any percent system?

Yep, and to be exact it should be ordinal data since it have an order to it. (Categorical -> 1. Nominal (Random Category no order) and 2. Ordinal (category with order))

Hello Omnia,

Regarding the grade variable, it depends on the way the variable has been presented. For instance, if we have the grade variable in terms of A, B, C, D, etc., it is gonna be a categorical variable here. On the other hand, consider that we obtained the grade variable in terms of crude numbers such as 50, 100, 200, etc., it is gonna be a numerical variable here. So as you have seen, it is the same variable, but the way in which it was presented determined its type, whether it is categorical or numerical.

Kind regards,
Kyrillos
